# New Member Highlights

Welcome new families by featuring them on the member home screen for a date range you choose.

New Member Highlights introduce new families to your congregation. During the dates you choose, highlighted families appear in a **Meet Our New Members** card on the home screen of the member web app and mobile app.

### Turning It On

New Member Highlights are on by default. To turn them off or on, go to **Admin → Account Settings → Configuration Options** and use **New Member Highlights**. The Directory feature must also be enabled.

### Scheduling a Highlight

1. In the Admin sidebar, open **New Member Highlights** and click **Add Highlight**.
2. Fill in the highlight:
   * **Family** — any current member household.
   * **Start date** and **End date** — defaults to the next two weeks.
   * **Welcome note** — optional, such as "They moved here from Kentucky."
   * **Feature the number of children and their first names** — on by default. Ages and birthdays are never shown.
3. Click **Schedule Highlight**.

The list shows each highlight as **Active**, **Upcoming**, **Past**, or **Archived**. Drag highlights to set the order families appear. To end a highlight early, open it and click **Archive Highlight**; archived highlights can be restored. Past highlights are available under **History**.

### What Members See

While a highlight is active, the **Meet Our New Members** card shows the family's photo, names, children (if included), and welcome note. Selecting a family opens their directory page.

A family is removed from the card automatically if they are no longer an active member household.

### Permissions

Managing highlights requires the **Manage New Member Highlights** permission (or **Manage Account**). See [Roles](/core-concepts/roles.md).
