How to Launch Lightpost
Lightpost offers a few options for helping expedite getting your members aware and logged in.
Data / Platform Setup
We highly recommend starting your Lightpost account by taking the time and effort to fill in data and start utilizing the "core features" in the list below. This enables members to immediately see and benefit from all that Lightpost can offer.
Note that this does not even cover the extensive add-on features available! It's recommended to not start too big, as you acclimate to a new platform.
Core Features
Directory: Add all members basic info (name, birthdate), and at least emails, to Lightpost. The more data you start out with the better! It's very helpful to spend some time here. If you'd like help, we can do a directory data import for a fee.
Involvement Areas: Fill this out with lots of selections for members to login and select how they'd like to be involved.
Prayer List: Add prayers to the Prayer List feature for members to be up-to-date on the latest news updates.
Calendar Events: Add some of the latest things coming up on the schedule that people should be reminded of and see.
Group Posts: Enable this for some smaller groups. This is a great way to get communication flowing among the congregation.
Notable Days: Adding birthday, anniversary and baptism birthday information to user profiles makes this section in the mobile app very exciting and useful. Members have a reason to check in daily, to see who they could message some encouragement to on their special day.
File Sharing: Add the latest bulletin or some Bible class material - making it easy to see how accessible things can be.
Sermons: If you plan to utilize the sermons/lessons feature, be sure to add at least a few things here so members know this is a spot to access the latest content.
Member Announcement
Once you have those things going, and you're ready to get members logged in, you should:
First announce to the congregation that Lightpost is available!
This is a crucial step! If members are not expecting the "welcome email" to create a password for their account, there's a high chance that some will mark the email as spam.
Marking a welcome email as spam will prevent future emails from being delivered and will require a support ticket to remedy.
Send "Welcome Emails" to everyone with an email address in Lightpost here: https://admin.lightpost.app/account/settings/welcome-emails
Help less tech savvy users get logged in and going. Check out the alternative login methods for those who may not have an email.
Experience tells us that even those who have trouble with technology find Lightpost incredibly easy and helpful once they get logged in. ❤️
